This comes from an old F1 Racing magazine Q&A, where Johnny Herbert was asked about one of F1's more infamous Benetton stories: whether Michael Schumacher had access to Herbert's telemetry while Herbert was blocked from seeing Schumacher's.
"Yes it was. In Argentina '95, I was about 0.001 sec quicker than him in free practice and, as we were walking back to the car park together, he was talking about driving styles and he said there are probably things you don't want me to see and vice versa."
"When I came in the following morning, Ross Brawn told me Michael had had a word with Flavio and he'd said that I couldn't see his telemetry any more, but that he could still see mine. For a couple of races after that I had to look at his telemetry out of the corner of my eye. Michael asked and Flavio should have said no, but he didn't."
